Diversity is a fundamental property of the living world. It results from the adaptation of organisms to their environment and from various interactions between organisms. It’s a key parameter of the self-maintenance ability of ecosystems. However, biodiversity is in rapid decline, which, in synergy with climate warming, affect the viability of Earth. Biodiversity is also a source of solutions to mitigate and adapt to global changes.
